Nicholas Petty, MLA is a landscape architect who hails from Athens, GA where barbecue and fried chicken reign supreme (see… not ALL of UHC are vegetarians).
Nick’s master’s thesis from the School of Environment and Design at the University of Georgia addressed the many possibilities of vertical gardening technologies in urban locations and, in doing so, has emerged as one of the leading experts on the subject.

Furthermore, with an educational background firmly rooted in the fine arts, Nick is fascinated by the theoretical and aesthetic possibilities afforded through working with the landscape - under a revised 21st Century conception of functionality, which may finally be understood to encompass all forms of life and the natural processes that sustain them.

Winner of the UHC Achievement Award for Outstanding Service on the Joy Garden at Northside Preparatory High School, he is the designer of and Project Manager there, as well as designer of the Sunlight of the Spirit Garden.

Leadership and Design

PARK Day: Nick led the team with Mike Repkin on the design and construction of the PARK Day structure. And due to the number of trips across town he made in a 48 hour time span, Mae, his trusty truck, also deserves a major pat on the hitch!
