Chicago Food Depository Volunteer Day

Friday, February 26, 2010 · 9:00 AM

Greater Chicago Food Depository &
Jack Clark’s Family Recovering Communities Food Pantry

Help Chicago Food Depository and help food pantries all over Chicago.

Dress: Volunteers must wear long pants and close-toed shoes. You will not be permitted to work if you are wearing sandals, shorts, or a skirt.

What to Expect:
Orientation: Before working, they provide a brief orientation for all new volunteers. They will talk about how the food depository functions, who they serve, and answer and questions.

Work Session: You will spend the majority of the session repacking food in the warehouse. Volunteers must be able to stand up for 90 minutes while doing some light lifting and bending. The production team plans volunteer projects based on the number of volunteers for that day. If the number of people in the group changes, inform them ahead of time so they can adjust their project plans accordingly.

What to Bring:
They ask that each volunteer bring an item of canned, non-perishable food to donate. They encourage not to being any personal belongings to the facility, however a limited number of lockers are available.

We’re all going, it’ll be really fun!
