Learning by Doing, Part II: Producing Food on a Roof

Date: to be determined
Chicago Center for Green Technology (CCGT), 445 N. Sacramento Blvd.

Explore how growing food on a roof fits into a long-range holistic vision of sustainability for Chicagoland in the second ‘Learning by Doing’ presentation by UHC.

Winner of an inaugural “City of Chicago Green Roof Grants Program 2005: Residential and Small Commercial Buildings,” the rooftop food production component is part of a broad-based initiative to redesign and improve the cycles of energy and water consumption, as well as food and waste production, using True Nature Foods, a commercial site in Chicago’s Edgewater neighborhood, as a prototype.
