Winner of an inaugural “City of Chicago Green Roof Grants Program 2005: Residential and Small Commercial Buildings,” the rooftop food production component is part of a broad-based initiative to redesign and improve the cycles of energy and water consumption, as well as food and waste production, using True Nature Foods, a commercial site in Chicago’s Edgewater neighborhood, as a prototype.
