URBAN ECOLOGY LECTURE BY STEVE SULLIVAN AND JOEL BROWN!
Join two of the nation’s most prominent urban ecologists, Steve Sullivan, Curator of Urban Ecology at the Chicago Academy of Sciences and Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, and Joel Brown, Professor of Ecology and Evolution at the University of Illinois at Chicago, for a discussion of PERSPECTIVES on NATURE illustrated by concrete, local examples.
Perspectives on Nature -
“Tree Squirrels: Narrators of the Nature in Your Neighborhood” .
Their lecture will address the relationships of humans - bipedal animals - to other species in the food chain and our shared environment, including ethical questions as they relate to urban agriculture.
Using tree squirrel populations as a barometer of biodiversity even across adjacent neighborhoods, Sullivan and Brown will show how our personal perspectives vitally affect our role in the life cycles we share with other habitants of the natural world.
