Atsushi Kikuchi House deconstruction
NEW! This project was featured in a recent lecture on deconstruction.
UHC was notified just days before a 1955 house designed and built by the Japanese watercolor artist Atsushi Kikuchi was to be demolished, and we salvaged as much material as we could in one week.
The experience helped bring us closer together as a group and taught us the value of a well-built, lovingly-assembled and cared-for home. We also saw how good buildings go together by taking one apart.
For a complete record, see the online photo album.
Note: as information on the house and owner was difficult to obtain and may be incomplete, we would appreciate help in clarifying any errors and/or omissions. Please contact Dave with any additional information.
Special thanks to Jeff Klein for his help with this project.
